Dear Diary...

Hey all! It's been quite a busy week!! I hope all is cool with you :-) In my world, I started a diary to record what I eat. (Do you see my terrible handwriting???) I've heard this was effective, but I wanted no parts of seeming like I needed help, I was out of control, too weak to just do things on my own, being too focused on food *eye rolls, what was I thinking*...See I appreciate the organic and effortless and I have this Super Woman thing goin' on...anywho, I started on Saturday and I highly recommend it. I do have a few rules: 1) no judging. This diary isn't for me to beat myself up, it's to learn and adjust. 2) I need a pen that I like writing with. 3) Write down what I eat after I eat it, not at the end of the day. I want to capture the moment and be aware of my internal stuff in that moment.

The reason I did it is because I couldn't figure out what the heck wasn't working so I wanted to be more conscious of what I am eating including the little tastes of popcorn when I make a snack for the kid, since sometimes what I thought was a little taste turns out to be more like a full serving before I realize it. Let me tell you, I'm learning a lot! I'll keep you updated on how things go, but I have seen a big change in my habits so far. I realized that I do need help, which is fine. Who doesn't need help with something!?!? I've cut down the amount of not great for me stuff simply because I don't want to write down that I ate 5 chocolates, lol! I gave myself control by deciding what I eat and when instead of being at the whim of the food around me and interestingly, I feel less focused on food partially because I just feel more in control overall.

This is just the beginning though. I'm committed to this for a month at least, even if I feel like I have it figured out. I'll check in at least once a week. I think that's good for keeping me accountable and on track!

Have a great Thursday y'all! *love and hugs* Jen

  1. wow, I am on my third day of writing down what I eat in a small diary! I found that I am more discerning with what I eat when I do this! I approximate the calories for each meal and the amount of calories I burn when I go on the exercise bike and then I can have a snack without guilt in the evening! Hope it works out good for you and for me!

  2. thanks for your comment on my blog! Yes, let's encourage each other on with the food thing! I have been accountable with what I have been eating for three whole days now! That is a lot for me because I have been WANTING to do this for over a YEAR!
